It nourishes others as well as themselves. Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.John 7:38: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. If the heart muscle in your chest does not pump blood all around your body, there will be physical problems. If your spiritual heart does not pump good treasure into your life, there will be spiritual problems. When there are blood clots anywhere in our circulatory system our physical heart cannot do what it is supposed to. When there are clots of sin in our lives, our spiritual hearts cannot do what they are supposed to do either. In addition to nourishing our bodies, our circulatory system removes poisons from them. There are substances in our blood that attack and destroy foreign objects and carry them out. Sin in our lives is a foreign object and a killer. Sin is worse than germs and viruses. Germs and viruses can only destroy our bodies. Sin destroys our souls. The Bible is the anti-virus for the clots of sin. Psalms 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. |
